The WB state government has launched the "Dooars Darshan" bicycle tourism initiative at Buxa Tiger Reserve in Alipurduar district, offering a unique adventure for bicycle enthusiasts.

For just Rs 50, visitors can enjoy a two-hour ride through the captivating forest trails. DM Surendra Kumar Meena inaugurated the project, which currently includes cycling routes from the Damanpur Range Office to Rajabhatkhawa, Rajabhatkhawa to Dima Bridge, and Majherdabri Tea Garden.

To empower women and engage the community, a women's self-help group in Rajabhatkhawa has been entrusted with five all-terrain bicycles, worth a total of seventy thousand rupees. This initiative provides an inclusive opportunity for local women to actively participate in the tourism sector. The authorities have plans to expand the bicycle tourism project to Chilapata, near the Jaldapara National Park, in the near future.

Safety measures have been implemented to ensure the well-being of riders, with the use of helmets made mandatory. With the potential for increased demand, the group plans to expand its fleet. DM Meena expressed optimism about the district's potential for tourism, announcing plans to introduce the "Dooars Darshan" cycle project and special bus services to other tourist centers within the district, enhancing the overall experience for travelers.
