Birpara's Dalgaon Railway Station Among 16 Stations in North Bengal Set for Major Upgrade under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme



The Union railway ministry's decision to improve the infrastructure of 16 railway stations located across north Bengal brings promising news for passengers and Dalgaon railway station in Birpara is among those set to receive a major upgrade. The foundation stone laying ceremony of Amrit Bharat station scheme was virtually launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday. 


The stations chosen for infrastructural development in north Bengal include New Alipurduar, Hasimara, Falakata, Dalgaon railway station and Kamakhyaguri (Alipurduar district), Jalpaiguri, Jalpaiguri Road, Dhupguri, Binnaguri and New Mal (Jalpaiguri district), Dinhata and Haldibari (Cooch Behar district), Kaliaganj, Dalkhola and Aluabari Road (North Dinajpur district) and Samsi (Malda district).


Emphasizing the significance of preserving local traditions and cultural heritage, railway officials revealed that the frontage of each station will be designed to resemble historical and traditional structures specific to the respective area.


As part of the redevelopment plan, the railways will focus on improving access, circulating areas, waiting halls, booking offices, and washrooms at the selected stations. Some stations will also be equipped with lifts and escalators to enhance accessibility for passengers. Moreover, passengers can look forward to enjoying free Wi-Fi connectivity and kiosks selling local produce.


The guidance and information system for passengers will undergo significant upgrades, and a comprehensive improvement of station buildings will be carried out. With these efforts, passengers traveling through Dalgaon railway station and other selected stations can expect a more comfortable and enriched experience during their journeys.
