Yesterday around 4:30 PM, a horrific incident took place in Subhash Pally near St. Dominic’s School in Jaigaon, resulting in the death of a local shopkeeper named Kumar Thapa.
The suspected attacker identified as Yeshi Dawa, a 32 year old truck driver from Nangkarz Pemayangtse, Bhutan who lives in the same building as Mr. Thapa. The two had ongoing disagreements, which flared up when the Bhutanese youth came home late one night, reportedly under the influence of drugs. During their argument, the youth allegedly used a knife to stab Mr. Thapa in the chest, aiming near his heart.
Jaigaon Police, led by Inspector Palzor Bhutia, quickly arrived at the scene. Mr. Thapa was taken to Lothabari Hospital immediately, but sadly, he did not survive due to injuries.
After committing crime he fled from the spot and crossed the border by scaling a 15ft wall where he was detained by Royal Bhutan police. Earlier today the Royal Bhutan Police handed over the prime accused Yeshi Dewa to Jaigaon police.
