No mention of Gorkhas on the official website of Alipurduar district suggest no presence of Gorkha community in this region, despite the fact that the Gorkhas have been living in the Dooars region for generations.
Dooars is a well-known region in North Bengal, where various ethnic tribes, including the Gorkhas, have coexisted peacefully for ages.
Long before India's independence, in the year 1642, the Nepali-speaking Gorkha community, along with other communities settled in this area. Today, the Gorkha community's population in this area is estimated to be around 18 lakh (1.8 million)
The Gorkhas have a long history of contributing to the nation, from the struggle for India's independence to their involvement in the fields of defense, sports, literature, culture, politics, and bureaucracy.
Given this rich history and significant presence, the question arises: why is the Nepali-speaking Gorkha community not mentioned on the official website of Alipurduar district?
