Acting on a tip-off, Birpara Police, led by Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nayan Das, apprehended a person with huge quantity of contraband cough syrup and tablets at Dalmore Ramsingh Thakuri Chowk on Lanka Road yesterday.
According to OC Nayan Das, the suspect had procured the substances from Khudiram Pally and was en route to his destination when he was intercepted. The police recovered 70 bottles of contraband cough syrup and 2880 tablets during the operation.
An NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) case has been registered against the accused, who is set to be produced before the court today.
