Dalsingpara Sports Academy (DSA), a renowned football academy in Dooars region, saw two of its players leave their mark on the 134th edition of Indian Oil Durand Cup 2025, held at the SAI Stadium in Kokrajhar, Assam—a prestigious tournament recognized as Asia’s oldest and the world’s third oldest football tournament.
Hemraj Bhujel, DSA’s captain and current right winger for the ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police) football team, delivered a standout display. He scored a stunning winning goal in the 60th minute and was named Player of the Match for his all-around performance.
Meanwhile, Yogesh Bomjan, another DSA alumnus, served as goalkeeper for the ITBP squad. Both players featured prominently as ITBP edged past Karbi Anglong Morning Star FC in their Group D opener.
The match took place on 27 July 2025 at the SAI Stadium in Kokrajhar with around 14 thousand spectators.
Karbi Anglong Morning Star FC took an early lead through a goal by Lunminlen Haokip in the 30th minute.
ITBP equalized just before halftime via Pulung Daimary, with a deflected side-footed strike. In the second half, Hemraj Bhujel flipped the match around with a low cross finished after a slick right-wing move, giving ITBP a 2–1 lead they maintained until the final whistle.
ITBP, participating for the first time in the Durand Cup, immediately made a mark with a crucial victory.
With no ISL underway this season, the Durand Cup has emerged as the All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) top priority, drawing strong interest and enthusiastic crowds.
