India has appointed IFS Tshering Wangchuk Sherpa from Darjeeling, an experienced diplomat as its new Ambassador to Vietnam. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced this on September 6, 2025. Sherpa will soon move to Hanoi to start his work.
Sherpa is a senior officer in the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) since 2002. He was recently working as Joint Secretary in Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), handling India’s role in United Nations matters. With years of experience, he is ready to help strengthen the friendship between India and Vietnam.
As Sherpa gets ready to start his job in Vietnam, he will work to boost trade, security and cultural ties between the two countries. His experience will help India and Vietnam grow their partnership further.
